Another new year and another collection of bold predictions - some inclinations, some research, some hopefuls.
That Zine Thing had some hits and misses for 2023:
There was the good:
In: Roth IRAs, mushrooms, AI-assisted creativity, being old
Out: CBD, social media, requesting songs from the DJ (SHAME!)
And the bad:
In: Margaritavilles, referring to touchdowns as “tuddies”
Out: Having a podcast, social media, negronis (thankfully)
Hey, we can’t hit them all. And now for our 2024 predictions…..
IN:
Community (as in human beings interacting, not the show)
Religious/spiritual belief exploration
Social positivity
Social media anonymity
Facebook groups (we need to buy/sell more stuff!)
Reddit groups are in (we need to review/share more stuff!)
Imagination
Communal living - communal families, artist communes, “mommunes”
Comfort - clothing, language, food
Dressing formally in informal situations (what else do we do with all these “work” clothes?)
Substack
Older music
Cooking at home (so easy with platforms like TikTok now)
…but fast food is also totally in
Nice chefs (opposite of Gordon Ramsay)
Reheating food (more fish in the office microwave - yay)
Cultural food exploration
Calories
Micro-learning
Energy healing
Vision boarding
Saunas, obviously
OUT:
Trolling
Mass sharing platforms
Being your own brand
Texting is out (too intimate - just DM me)
News is out (too toxic)
Being ultra-rich
Living in an echo chamber
Expensive food
Knowing things (Ask more questions!)
Being unique
Having good taste (let’s get cringey)
Yelling “Let’s Go!!!” at any positive outcome
We’d love to hear your comments on what we missed or what you predict to be way off. Don’t text us, though. That’s out.
